Thomas was born in Saxlingham Nethergate in June 1890. His mother Georgina Evans was unmarried.
In 1891 Georgina and Thomas were in the workhouse in Swainsthorpe. He was nine months old.
Georgina was working as a charwoman in 1901 and was lodging with Henry and Anna Smith at the Folly, Saxlingham Thorpe. Thomas was ten years old.
By 1911 they were living in a cottage on Brown’s Lane, Saxlingham. He was working as a farm labourer and she was working as a housekeeper.
There are no service, or medal records for Thomas so he never served abroad. The Absent Voters’ List for 1918 and 1919 record him as being a Lance-Corporal, Service number 434386, in 694th Agricultural Company. Often men in these Companies had been in other regiments previously and had been incapacitated or they were considered not fit enough to fight. Most of the men in this Company had been in the Royal West Surrey of the East Surrey Regiments. These Agricultural Companies were created to enable the countryside to produce as much food as possible. Farms were suffering as a result of loss of man power.
In 1919 he married Edith May Brookes and in 1920 he is listed as still living in Saxlingham.
By 1925 he was living at the Dairy Farm in Newton Flotman and in 1930 he and his wife were living in the Street in Brooke. I
His mother died in 1931.
It has not been possible at this time to find any more information about him and his family.
