Charles Heazle

Charles was born in Saxlingham Nethergate on 2 February 1900. His parents were Thomas and Harriet Elizabeth Heazle, (nee Denmark). His father worked as a farm labourer and a dealer.

 Charles was baptised in St. Mary’s Church, Saxlingham Nethergate on 6 May 1900.

He had three brothers and two sisters.

Charles enlisted in the Royal Army Service Corps on 2 March 1918. He was just old enough to enlist. His service number was M/332562.

He did not serve abroad and was discharged on 7 May 1919. He received a Silver War Badge and was considered no longer fit for active service due to sickness.

In 1927 he married Ethel Norton, born 14 August 1903, and they had a son Ralph C Norton born in 1930.

They lived in Lower Tasburgh in 1939 and he worked as a bricklayer.

His wife died in 1952 aged 48 years and she is buried in Tasburgh Churchyard.

Charles died on 6 September 1981 in Aylsham, Norfolk.
